Here’s simply one of the must have original Superman items : A 1978 ORIGINAL NSS 1-SHEET MOVIE POSTER on SUPERMAN THE MOVIE rendered by legendary poster artist BOB PEAK! Needless to say, everyone is familiar with this film, as it’s undoubtedly the single most beloved and well received Superman product ever released. It’s certainly the best film. After all, you have Marlon Brando and Gene Hackman lending their incomparable talents. You also have the world famous poster artist, Bob Peak, rendering this imaginative, and now iconic, poster art. It’s important to note that Bob Peak was the first movie poster artist to win the prestigious Society of Illustrators award, solidifying him as the top film poster artist working at the time. I’ve added special information in the photo section of this listing on the illustrious and long past enjoyed by the Society – check it out! I got this poster DIRECTLY from NSS (The National Screen Service) back then. It was in MINT folded original condition. That’s how NSS issued all the one sheet in 1978 – folded. BEWARE of rolled one-sheets on this title as they’re likely fake! I didn’t want to damage it by opening and closing the poster, and so I stored it FLAT between acid-free paper. Until just a year ago. When I had it properly conserved by getting it professionally linen-mounted. I wanted to get the folds out so I could scan it properly. It worked like a charm. The poster looks perfect. LINEN-MOUNTING is an accepted form of poster preservation by the Library of Congress and every Museum in the country. A lot of advanced poster buyers request and prefer linen-mounted posters because it makes framing and displaying the posters much easier – without the risk of damaging the original. The white you see in the photo beyond that of the poster is the white of the Japanese paper lining the linen border margin. See photos 1, 3 & 4. You can see how easy it would be to damage the original poster without that extra margin of protection. The backing makes the poster much safer to handle – it GREATLY reduces the risk of damaging the original.
