And check out OUR NEWLY LISTED ITEMS. This is an original printed cover proof for The Marvel Poster Book #1 featuring the Amazing Spider-Man, published by Marvel Comics in January of 1991. This is a full-color uncut proof of the cover, including both the front and back covers, and with printing on both sides of the covers, the same way it looks in the published comic. It has printer color code bars going across the bottom of the front and back covers (see picture), and on the reverse side also. The proof measures approximately 11 3/8″ by 17 3/8″ when unfolded, and is slightly larger than the actual size issue. Please note this is NOT a mass-produced print or lithograph. It is a cover proof that is created during the production process for the comic, and used internally by the comic company. The piece is in very good condition, but has some light crease lines near the middle top edge (should be visible in picture). The piece features some of the greatest Spidey covers of Todd McFarlane’s legendary career. Shown in the center of the front and back covers are the black costume image from Amazing Spiderman #300, and the image from ASM #301 that featured Spidey’s return to the classic red and blue costume. Surrounding them are smaller images of the McSpidey covers to ASM #305, 311, 319, 323, 324, and 328, as well as Marvel Tales #224, 235, and 238, the Spiderman Vs. Venom TPB, and Spiderman #1, 3, and 7. MacFarlane first became well-known drawing Incredible Hulk, Amazing Spider-man, and Spiderman, before leaving Marvel Comics to co-found Image Comics, where he created the Spawn franchise. But among all the art he did throughout the years, there is little question that his Spiderman work is probably the most highly-regarded by fans. This is a very cool and rare comic collectible that you will hardly ever get a chance to see. A great piece which would look fantastic framed and prominently displayed.
