UP FOR SALE IS A HAND DRAWN ONE OF A KIND 1956 FORBIDDEN PLANET MOVIE POSTER RECREATION ORIGINAL COMIC ART COLOR SKETCH ON 8 1/2” X 11” CARD STOCK BY COMIC BOOK ARTIST JAMES CHEN WHO DID ARTWORK FOR FIST OF THE DRAGON # 1,2,3 & 4 AND LADY DRAGON # 0. THE ARTWORK IS SIGNED BY THE ARTIST. PLEASE NOTE SCAN COLORS MAY BE LIGHTER OR DARKER THAN THE ACTUAL ART. JAMES CHEN IS AS FAR AS I KNOW CURRENTLY THE ONLY ARTIST DOING COMIC COVER RECREATIONS ON 8 1/2” X 11” CARD STOCK. HE HAS BEEN DOING THEM FOR THE PAST 12 YEARS. MOST OTHER ARTISTS DO COVER RECREATIONS ON 11 X 17” CARD STOCK BECAUSE THIS IS THE SIZE THE COMIC INDUSTRY USES FOR ACTUAL COMIC PRODUCTION ART TO DO ART BIGGER TO GET IN ALL THE MINUTE DETAILS AND SHRINKS THE IMAGE TO THE SMALLER COMIC SIZE. BUT IT IS ACTUALLY A LOT HARDER TO DO COVER RECREATIONS IN THE 8 1/2” X 11” CARD STOCK BECAUSE IT IS MUCH HARDER TO DRAW THE TINY DETAILS IN HALF THE PAPER SIZE. COVER RECREATIONS IN THE 8 1/2” X 11” CARD STOCK SIZE IS MUCH BETTER ALSO BECAUSE IT IS CLOSER TO THE ACTUAL SIZE OF A ACTUAL COMIC BOOK COVER. COLOR COVER RECREATIONS TAKE AROUND 12 HOURS TO DO. MY HOPE IS THESE COVER RECREATIONS WILL BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN FINE ART AND POP ART AND COMIC ART THE WAY ARTISTS ROY LICHTENSTEIN AND ANDY WARHOL DID WITH THEIR COMIC ART IN THE 1960’S AND THAT EVENTUALLY THESE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF COVER RECREATIONS DONE BY JAMES CHEN WILL BE IN MUSEUMS DEFINING POP ART AND COMIC ART FOR THIS GENERATION. MY HOPE IS WHEN PEOPLE REALIZE HOW GREAT THESE COLOR COVER RECREATIONS THAT TAKE 12 HOURS LONG TO DO AND HOW GREAT THESE BLACK INK COVER RECREATIONS THAT TAKE 5 HOURS TO DO ARE THESE ARTS WILL ONE DAY BE IN A MUSEUM LIKE THE WORK OF ANDY WARHOL AND ROY LICHTENSTEIN AND LIKE THE ARTWORK OF JAMES CHEN’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’S ART IN A 12 MONTH PERIOD. SO ONCE JAMES CHEN IS DISCOVERED HIS ARTWORK MAY SKY ROCKET IN VALUE.

WAR HEROES #6 (1943 DELL) WWII ERA- NAZI -L. B. COLE- Recruitment Poster
This comic has an AMAZING back cover “Recruitment Poster” for Women. The “Attack on Attu” story is inked by LB COLE. This comic is a WWII “1 staple” comic. Cover and centerfold are snug at the staple. The extreme top & parts of the back cover spine have a super thin “ink layer” that’s missing possibly a bug chew of the ink layer? The integrity of the paper is strong, but the ink layer is gone in spots. I think this comic could still grade as a 4.0. See my other WAR HEROES comic.

Hello there, and thanks for looking. Here we have a great rare sample/production poster art for The Incredible Hulk. From 1991, measures 25 3/8 inches by 19 1/2. Says Big And Stupid Is A Myth, The Incredible Hulk, The Reality Is On Sale Here. Not on paper, but on plastic. The backside has been colored in my hand, and the black portions are printed. There is a handwritten job number and date in the top corner, so it seems like this was an in-production sample for the eventual artwork that was released. There are many flaws: crumpled corners, creases, marks, tape remnant along the edges. Please review all of the photos to see these condition details. Pretty cool and rare piece!
