Each poster print measures approximately 9 3/4″ by 14 3/4″, and is printed on smooth glossy-type cardstock. They feature classic images of Rorschach, The Comedian, Dr. Manhattan, Silk Spectre (Laurie), Nite Owl, and Ozymandias, and are actually the images used for the French edition covers of The Watchmen. Issued in France as “Les Gardiens”, this is printed underneath the image, along with the character’s name. The French covers were in stark contrast to the dark American covers, and featured pin-up type images of the main characters surrounded by additional backgrounds and colorful imagery. They featured all-new covers by Dave Gibbons and John Higgins, and the prints featuring these spectacular covers were produced in small numbers and are fairly hard to find. The Watchmen introduced such great characters as Dr. Manhattan, Rorschach, The Comedian, Silk Spectre, Nite Owl, and Ozymandias, and brought a depth and realism to comics that it had arguably never seen before. It is one of Moore’s finest works, ranking up there with Batman The Killing Joke, Miracleman, V For Vendetta, From Hell, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Saga of the Swamp Thing. The Watchmen is considered by many to be the greatest comic book work ever created, is certainly the most important and influential work produced in comics in the last 30-40 years, and is seeing increased interest since the release of Doomsday Clock and a new HBO series. The prints are in very good condition, and display nicely. This is a great item for any fan of this landmark series, which would look fantastic framed, and would also make a great gift.
