AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Marvelmania Poster Vintage Marvel, 1st PRINTING 1969 not 1970
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Marvelmania Poster by John Romita. This one is dated 1969, which leads me to believe that this is a first printing, while the 1970 editions are later printings. This poster was produced by Marvelmania International, an independently operated fan club from 1969 to 1971. The size is 23 x 35. Im not a professional grader, but I would rate the condition as good, with a few minor creases and moderate edge wear. There are several tiny pinholes around the edges, due to the poster having been attached to the wall of my bedroom with staples when I was 12 years old. Yes, Im the original owner, and have stored this away for almost 50 years! It has a small 1 tear at the bottom center, and an even smaller tear in the bottom left corner which doesnt go to the edge. On the lower left edge there is a small spot of what appears to be glue. There is also subtle wrinkling pretty much across the entire surface, but its not really noticeable, and only visible when a bright light is reflecting across it. I tried to show it in the photos of the back. I have tried to depict as many of the flaws as possible, so please examine the photos carefully to assess the condition for yourself. This is a very roomy tube which allows it to be rolled loosely, not tightly. CONTINENTAL USA BUYERS ONLY FOR THIS LISTING, DUE TO THE GIANT SIZE OF THIS POSTER. This is a RARE VINTAGE ORIGINAL 1966 BATMAN POSTER, it’s VERY BIG , and it features the artwork of long-time silver age Batman and Brave and the Bold artist CARMINE INFANTINO. This Batmania poster measures about 40 inches by 27 inches, and that’s giant sized compared to most of today’s superhero posters. This 1960’s Dark Knight detective poster was produced by a company called G&F Posters of New York City (NYC), who also produced 1966 posters of Superman and Robin the Boy Wonder. Batman is shown here in the poster saying Nonsense! There’s no such things as –uhh! , and this was the same image used for the cover to the Batman Detective Comics issue 331 comic book from around 1964. This listing is for the poster only, of course. CONDITION NOTES (see photos): This’66 poster still retains it’s gorgeous colors, it has NEVER BEEN DISPLAYED, and it has some light creasing and crinkles from being stored rolled all these decades, and some very light tanning. With that in mind, I’d grade this poster as “fine/fn” condition (using comic book grading terms). I’m 100 percent certain that many other poster sellers and collectors would grade this poster higher, but I prefer to grade more conservatively. It’s incredible this scarce poster even survived the 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, the 2000’s, and now. There can’t be many of these posters left in existence after all these years, especially in this condition! The item “Rare original 1966 Batman DC Detective Comics silver age 40 x 27 poster 11960’s” is in sale since Wednesday, September 19, 2018. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Comics\Posters”.
