STAN LEE Rare 1973 AMS Press POSTER Spider-Man X-Men Capt America Conan Hulk. This two sided Promotional 26×21 1/2 size Poster from AMS Press, Inc. Titled “Now You’re Taking Us Seriously” promoted their line of Complete Comic Books, Weekly and Sunday Strips from 1922 to the Present on Microfilm. The titles available and the pricing are on the back of the poster. Featured characters on this Art Deco style Poster are such Marvel Comics characters as Amazing Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil, Captain America, Conan, Silver Surfer, Sue Storm and The Thing from Fantastic Four, Hawkeye, Medusa, Quicksilver, Giant-Man, Cyclops from the X-Men. What’s really unique about this poster is that all the Marvel characters are merged with Comic Strip characters such as Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, Prince Valiant, Tarzan, Popeye and Wimpy, Little Orphan Annie, Cisco Kid, Felix the Cat, Nancy and Sluggo, Lil Abner and Daisy Mae, Katzenjammer Kids, Henry and several others. STAN LEE has a section on the back of the poster were he writes about the evolution of Comic Books and Comic Strips as art forms. Stan has a large paragraph were he discusses the 1960 beginning of Marvel Comics producing material for older, more discriminating readers. At the conclusion of this text is a reproduction of Stan’s signature at the bottom. This Poster was fully approved to promote the Microfilm editions by Marvel Comics Group, United Feature Syndicate, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. Al Capp Enterprises, and Chicago Tribune/New York News Syndicate, Inc. Poster Design by Frank Mell, Typography by Vernon Simpson, Art Deco motifs by Marcia Loeb. The Poster is in really nice Very Fine/Near Mint condition. The colors are bright. There’s a tiny tear at the center border fold line and at the bottom left. All items come from a smoke free home.
