Iconic 1969 Mad Magazine Poster “Who Needs You” Alfred E. Neuman Norman Mingo Art in Mint condition. Frame Size 28 x 34. The poster from 1969 has Neuman dressed like Uncle Sam in the famous James Montgomery Flagg recruiting poster of World War I. But instead of Uncle Sam wants you, the Neuman figure is asking, Who needs you? A comment tailored for the Vietnam War which was going on at the time. The drawing is signed in the print, James Montgomery Mingo. The REAL artist is the now dead Norman Mingo (20 January 1896 8 May 1980) who was an American commercial artist and illustrator. Unique pieces of original artwork by the living legend himself, Neal Adams featuring Dracula, the Lord of all Vampires. This art was done for the VTG Dynamite Magazine 3-D Posters back in 1979, during Adams’ peak period in pen and ink and represents one of the two prime pieces entitled; #1 The Vampire and #2 Werewolf. This item group includes two bat artwork images as well as the zip-a-tone background. In excellent condition with image area measuring approx. 10 x 12.5. Light stain at top left corner. Poster pack #3 containing one poster magazine, one Brown Alert Survival Wallet, and one sticker. An A5 (210 x 148mm) sized (folded) magazine that folds out into an A2 (594 x 420mm) poster. The A2 poster features Tank Girl co-creator’s artwork – the “Man Who Fell To Earth” Tank Girl cover from the April 1992 issue of Deadline Magazine. The magazine side contains an unseen Tank Girl tone poem/comic strip, “The Brain Of Jet Girl”, recycling Ashley Wood’s artwork from “The Gifting”, never before published in this form. The posters are all hand signed in pencil (on the poster face) by (Alan, the other co-creator and writer of the series) and numbered out of a limited edition of 500. Each poster comes with one “Brown Alert survival wallet”, featuring Tank Girl’s Secret Tactical Decoder & the Brown Intestinal Gas Detector (the wallet is 98mm x 147mm and made out of heavy card), and an exclusive A7 Tank Girl sticker. Each poster is handled, folded, and packaged by Alan , which makes for a somewhat home-made feel.
