FOOM was Marvel Comics’ self-produced fan magazine of the mid-1970s, following the canceled Marvelmania and preceding Marvel Age. Running 22 quarterly issues, it was initially designed and edited by celebrated comic book writer-artist Jim Steranko. Though spelled without periods in both indicia and cover treatments, is an acronym for “Friends of Ol’ Marvel”. In this issue, the puzzles (pages 6-7& 14) had been filled in with pencil (but have since been rubbed out), page 23 is loose – but in place (see photos), the Nick Fury disguises (page 27) have been coloured in with crayon (again see photos). There are some marks in the magazine, but it is in generally good condition. The FOOM Golden membership card has been signed and has some marks on the front & back (see photos). The FOOM mini pictures/decals have all been cut out, the The Best Things in Life are FOOM! Thing smoking a cigar picture looks like some one has tried to cu around the Thing, but has then taped it back together. The poster, by Jim Steranko – 21.75″ x 27.5″, has general wear and tear along the folds, a small hole developing in the centre (see photos). Never been hung, it has no pin holes, tape or blu-tac marks. This is the first version (of two), the Vision has white eyes and Spider-Man has red eyes. At the bottom there is FOOM related text and a Stan Lee printed signature. The item “FOOM #1 (Stan Lee & J. Steranko) Club Membership ID Card, 6 FOOM Decals & Poster” is in sale since Monday, March 25, 2019.
