In May of 1962, writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby created Dr. Bruce Banner, a mild-mannered scientist who was exposed to an enormous burst of lethal gamma radiation. Incredibly, Banner did not die, but instead found himself periodically transformed into a rampaging monster with nearly limitless strength. As his legend has grown in the years that followed, the Hulk has come to symbolize the great destructive power that lies deep inside everyone.
